Tape Rituals' Incantations is a series of documentary films featuring musicians and artists across Scotland.

The first in the series features Scott William Urquhart, a free-flowing folk guitarist based in Stirling whose music is reminiscent of John Fahey and Leo Kottke. In the film we connect with Scott to capture performance footage alongside conversations exploring his inspirations and connection to the local area.

The film was made in collaboration with Scene Stirling and was first aired in October 2021.

The second episode in the series features internationally acclaimed Reggae artist iBrina. Combining performance footage with conversations to lead the viewer on a journey of self-expression, reclamation and empowerment.

The film is presented by Scene Stirling in collaboration with Celtic Connections supporting Year of Stories 2022.

Four Extraordinary Days: The Bridge Festival Documentary

This is a documentary film which delves behind the scenes of The Bridge Festval, a multi ensemble festival of strings that took place in venues around Glasgow.

In April 2022, in Glasgow, UK, something very special happened. After years of planning, commissioning and collaboration, three incredible groups of musicians from across Europe descended on the city, Hamburg based Ensemble Resonanz, Estonian collective PLMF and Norwegian group Trondheim Soloists joined ‘at home’ hosts Scottish Ensemble.

These four groups not only became one for a unique concert combining forces at the iconic Barrowland Ballroom, but they also showcased their own distinctiveness in solo concerts, and infused the city with music, with pop-up performances in schools, community centres, museums and shopping centres.

In this new documentary we delve behind the scenes of the festival, hearing from musicians, composers, audiences and others, giving a sense of what the festival meant to everyone it touched. The documentary is a Tape Rituals production.

Anamchara is a concert film documenting a full performance by experimental duo Cahill // Costello at Renfield St. Stephens Church in Glasgow in the summer of 2021. This film was made in collaboration with Gearbox Records.

Offworld (Live) is a concert film featuring a live performance from Cahill // Costello's debut album 'Offworld' which is available via Gearbox Records. The film was recorded in August 2020 on location in Sanna, Ardnamurchan, an amazing coastal location formed in part by a large volcanic crater.

The duo described the performance as a musical response to their outside environment. Many, many midges were fought off during the filming of this track, as is evidenced in the footage!

'Gloaming' is the first of two videos we produced for Rev Magnetic, the video explores the bands' own mythos and features actor Abbi Stevenson as a lone cheerleader roaming through a desolate landscape. The video was filmed in Duncarron Valley north of Glasgow amidst the peaks of the Campsie Fells.

'Yonder (La-haut)' continues on from the 'Gloaming' narrative, this time featuring Christine Devaney as the protagonist who receives news from her past.

We worked closely with Luke Sutherland to create both videos which were released in 2019 to acccompany the release of Rev Magnetic's acclaimed album 'Versus Universe' on Rock Action Records.

Tape Rituals are the in-house video team at Dystopia Recording Studio - a multimedia production studio in the west end of Glasgow!
